Welcome To Glasgow

There was a strange bright ball in the sky today, giving off a crazy amount of heat. I don’t know what this was. Someone told me it was the sun, but as far as I know that’s just a newspaper. Anyway it stayed in the sky until half two when, as I drove home from work looking forward to my easy evening run, the more familiar grey sky and rain returned… fantastic! As a Canadian friend of mine always said concerning such matters, “welcome to Glasgow!”

When I arrived at the gym, Miss Pump declared that she was heading straight off as she was short of time. That left me and Mrs pacepusher. Mrs pacepusher had already done five separate Sport Relief miles at school today with the various age groups, but was still keen to do a fartlek session. She did 5 sets of 4 minutes with 2 minute recoveries. I on the other hand just trotted aimlessly, almost regardless of the intervals. So much so, that I didn’t believe Mrs p when she said she had done 5 intervals already, and had to check my watch before conceding that I was wrong!

It was a nice easy run for me, a wee stretch of the legs that will hopefully leave me in fine shape for a long run with The Headless Chicken in the morning. I’m thinking 22 miles tomorrow, but he doesn’t know that yet… though if he reads this…

It stayed reasonably dry this evening with very little wind. With a bit of luck it’ll be more of the same in the morning. At least I hope so. Is it safe to go out running if that big warm bright thing is in the sky again? Do I need protective clothing? Or an Oxygenius Face Mask perhaps?
