The Big Bad T!

I’m now well into my Taper (‘The Big Bad T’) for the Edinburgh Marathon, and hence there hasn’t been much running to write about. However, on Saturday morning (23rd May) I met PC Plod(der) for our final long (ish, not very really!) run. We’d been instructed by coach DP to run for about 60 minutes, so that’s what we did. With Harvey, and PC Plod(der)’s mutt, Murphy – a wee Staffy with only wee legs who found it a bit of a long way!

1 7:49 2 7:42 3 7:36 4 7:24 5 7:33 6 8:29 7 7:38 8 7:24  Average 7:42 min/miles

The pace varied a bit, but at least we managed to keep things steady overall. Mile 6 included a stop to allow Murphy to get a drink from the burn (he peed in it first though!) hence the rather slower pace. Murphy had to stay on the lead as he has a habit of running off, so Harvey spent the whole run showing off by running as far away from us as possible on his invisible lead! At the end, Murphy was set free whilst we walked back to the car, and both the boys played together quite happily. I would say that Harvey has a new running partner, but PC Plod(der) tells me that Murphy wasn’t speaking to her for the rest of the day!

I spent the rest of the day in Edinburgh at the rugby where Leinster beat Leicester, 19-16, in what was quite an exciting Heineken Cup Final.

No running on Sunday, then off to the club last night for a final speed session, again with Harvey in tow. Coach DP provided the session, 4×3 mins with 10 mins warm up and cool down, and what a lovely easy Monday night it was too. It was so nice to finish feeling fresh despite having done a bit of speed work!

No running today, although I did go for a very slow cycle with Harvey. No, Harvey wasn’t on a bike too! I thought I’d better make sure he’s still training hard whilst I’m restricted by ‘The Big Bad T’!
