Thanks For The Last 2 Years Dario!

I sit here looking out of the window on a rather wet Glasgow evening, alone. Mrs pacepusher is, again, away in Malawi, and I’m feeling blue. I look across at my West Highland Way Goblets and am deeply saddened by the loss of ‘Race Organiser’, Dario, at the age of 46. A sadness that can not be remotely considered in relation to those closer, and closest, to him. The man was a legend, and the race will never be the same again!

It was only this year (race number 2 for me) that I started to feel that I was a true part of the race (or the ‘family’). Indeed, we had just been invited to a BBQ by Dario at the end of the month. I hope next year (as I now feel that I want to run the race next year), we can all do something in his memory, maybe something simple like starting with his name on our shirts, that would show how important he was to us all, and the WHWR.

As I said on the WHWR forum…

‘Enjoy God’s Staircase Dario, it has to be better than the Devil’s!’

Dario, WHWR legend!

Dario, WHWR legend!

On a more positive note, my foot has been out of cast since Thursday last week, and it feels great. I’m dying to run but I’m being sensible… I fly out to climb Kilimanjaro on Thursday morning. Not sure what I’m going to do with the 7 hours I’ll have in Amsterdam airport though!

Keep doing what we all love doing readers… it’s what he would’ve wanted!
