Marshalling v Running
This year, due to my joining the Royal Navy, I couldn’t (thought I’d rather not) run the West Highland Way. So, I chose to be (was told by Mrs pacepusher that I would be) marshalling the race instead. The big question is though, which was better? Marshalling or running?
Well…
Marshalling… all the free kit, but no training, no race fee, and, wait for it, you don’t have to run the bloody thing… Genius!
Running… well, I’m in the process of completing my application form for the Tooting 24 hour track race (any comments?), and, if I’m around next year, and I’m accepted, I’ll be on the start line for the WHW 2011… bring it on!
I guess running wins!

Yeah! At last! Another pacepusher blog entry. Great you made it up for the WHW Race. Just a bit concerned how you might train for next year’s race on a submarine?! Until next time. Silke

Neal, I am delighted to see another blog post from the legendary 18:42 runner. A bit short that post and my response is probably longer than the original blog post itself
Anyway, yes there was a fear that you might rename your blog from pacepusher to canonpusher. And that for good reason. But I am relieved you did not…
Secondly a 24 hour event is not a trail run. So could that not put you off entirely? Although it is good to see that ultras are still on your radar… (sonar?).
And how do you train for that? For a 24 hour race? Although as far as I remember you did not train that much for your WestHighlandWay attempts either.
Anyway, go for that 24 hour race! You need to remind your legs about what they are born to do! And good luck for that. But even more importantly I hope you can be in the 2011 WHW race.
