Nobody Said It Was Easy

Here are some photo’s of me arriving at Kingshouse at the end of the 31.3 mile run on Saturday 16th February. We started at the Drovers Inn (Beinglass Farm) at 09:30 and I arrived at Kingshouse just under 5 hours and 20 minutes later, after brief stops at Auchtertyre Farm and Bridge Of Orchy (See my blog 17/02/08 for the full story!). I think they show how hard I worked on the day, how hard the WHW race is going to be, but ultimately (in there somewhere), the joy of running on the West Highland Way!

As Coldplay sang on The Scientist, “Nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be this hard.”

Thanks to Thomas’ wife Silke for the photographs and for her support on the day.

I was passed a link to your page by a friend from my running club, she wanted to share this with us the day before London. It’s not just inspiring but for me it’s reinforced all those original dreams and wishes behind my decision to start running. I am a happy plodder, I work hard but as a single mum of four, can only do so much. I completed London last year in 5.41 and am after a pb tomorrow!! I’ll won’t be setting off any speed camera’s soon but the competition is in my soul, my half marathons have got faster and faster and my desire to cross that line just grows. Your ‘standing at the start line’ is the most inspiring thing I could have read the day before London. Thanks for sharing it all, my demons are now well and truly behind me.

    Best of British Old Bean!!!

    Anna.
